I want to go pretty badly, but can't make it happen right now. I'm hoping next year it will be someplace like Bismarck, ND or Kansas City, Mo.

I also hope they run it later in the year like they a ...

The metal work is fairly robust and I shot both 1oz. and 1 1/8 oz. loads in my Smith 16's, but I reload for the 1,185 fps to 1,250 fps range. The bigger concern is the weak stock head that does not ha ...

I've shot steel through a Mod 12 with Modified choke. No safety issues are to be expected. Do it enough and there could be minor cosmetic marks inside. That's about it.

For what it's worth, probably not much, I'll give my thoughts on all of this.

The DR-16 is a wonderful wad. I used them, but when supply issues loomed on the horizon and discussions like this one ...

With bismuth shot, the important factor is alloy content. 6% tin seems to keep it from fracturing upon firing, 4% is known to be insufficient.

I actually converted my Mac 650 to be able to load 2 1/2" shells. It wasn't as simple as originally thought, but it works well.

I need to look at my ammo supply. I have a bunch of 7/8 oz. #5' ...

Bismuth isn't hurting the barrels on my old Parker, and they're Damascus.

Chamber pressure is determined by load recipe, not shot type. You can load a variety of pressure levels with a variety of ...

My experience with #7 steel, and I've used a lot of it, is that it's hard to beat for teal. I've also killed a lot of mallards stone dead with it out to about 35 yards when they slipped into the teal ...

Maybe I should help Hogdon out with their advertising slogans. These pretty well sum it up:

"Winchester 572, helping insure birds die of old age since 2021"

"You'll put your eye o ...

Out here in the West, we just plunk down $35 at the pound for a good Border Collie and go hunting. Sorry, couldn't resist.

When it comes to choosing dogs, I'm a firm believer that there is more th ...

The details of that are in the add pictured above. That lever behind the trigger guard is the safety. You squeeze it firmly to take the safety off. As soon as you relax your grip, the safety goes back ...

At this point I'm thinking that the "Extremely Flammable" label was placed on the bottle as a joke. I guess I'm back to my original backup plan of just using the stuff for dove and quail loa ...

Sherman Bell also performed some interesting tests concerning powders. He compared black powder with various smokeless powders. Those results were as interesting as his Damascus destructive tests. Slo ...
