I will always defer to Ted on matters Darne, but I'll add my two cents. I've owned and shot both main models--the R and the V. Though both are sliding breech, fixed barrel guns of similar appearance ...

I just got off the phone with Kari McCormick at Aerostar, having ordered a couple flats of #6s. They cost $115 shipped and are available in 6, 7, and 8. She told me that she expects another order cl ...

Sounds like you're having a happy visit, Mike! And thank, James for the pic of the elusive Ace of Spades!

I was recently reading Gough Thomas on the form and function of boxlocks and other non-sid ...

In a locked cabinet or safe, out of sight to casual guests, vertically, muzzle down, in a gunsock to avoid little accidents n dings. +1 on Ballistol!

The guy at my local mom and pop gun shop said ...

Dustin's 12 ga no.6 was still packed in cosmoline when he saw it in a gunshop near Houston. IIRC, only paid 2 large for it. THAT is the find of the century: still in the grease, on this side of the po ...

Thanks for pointing that out, Mike! It did look a bit odd, and I found myself wondering if it was fully locked up. Some lucky fella's gonna have Christmas a few months later than normal! Wink

Thanks all who answered. I may have to pass on this Darne after all. In fact, in might not even be a Darne! It has the one piece stock of the earliest Darnes and no makers mark on top of the lever ...

Thanks guys! I probably will pursue this Darne; it looks like a good one. Who knows, it might displace one of the guns that bracket it--a 5# 9 oz Darne R15 from the 70s and a 1920s-vintage 6# even S ...
