The 16 Gauge with 1 or 1 1/8 oz. of #6 or #5's is more than enough gun to take pheasants in Kansas or any where else in North America.

Ted's right my 1954 vintage Model 37 weighs in at 6 lbs. 2 oz. and it feels pretty well balanced when you shoot it.

The weight has nothing to do with higher pressure loads. The pressures have been the same for roughly 80 years at least.

You don't want to use that outer part of the pattern, because it isn't really there, at least not the way you want it to be.

The best way to pattern, use some 40" wide plastic table cloth mate ...

Barnyard birds never really toughen up. I shoot them in February, the last release was Thanksgiving. Pretty much look the same to me.
