Hobo, probably a weak/broken safety spring( or at least one that has less detent than is required). An easy fix for a few dollars. Numrich has the part.

If you are really interested in at least one possible answer, compare the black powder time/pressure curve with a dram equivalent load of SR7625.

I think it has been mentioned before but I have had occasional issues with 'hard' primers, particularly some of the newer Fiocchi spark plugs.

First I'd replace the striker spring. Easy to do and inexpensive.
Other 'fixes' may well be more invasive.
