What is the lightest recoil factory 16 ga. generally available?

Without handloading, I'd like to find a low recoil load to shoot skeet in a featherweight Ithaca Model 37. The Winchester Australian loads I have been using seem a bit strong.

Gold40, here's a Fiocchi target load that might be a little tamer:

For some strange reason, the winchester shells all kick harder than most other makes in any given shot weight and velocity range. Their 1 ounce, 1150 fps 16 ga load is about the most uncomfortable I've ever shot. I think it has something to do with the amount and type of ejecta besides the shot. The last bunch I fired strew confetti-like garbage with every shot. It was annoying.

That said, I think you will find that any standard velocity 1 ounce 16 gauge load is a might too heavy for most average target work- especially if the gun weighs at or around 6-1/2 pounds or less. The only reasonably affordable alternative is reloading. there are some nice light 3/4 to 7/8 ounce recipes that will handle 99% of any recreational shooting you might do. The 3/4 ounce skeet loads are both effective target smashers and just plain fun and painless to shoot.

The RST 7/8 oz target load is a nice low recoil factory round, but they are a mail order proposition for most shooter. And an expensive proposition at that. Expect to pay $8.00/box of 25 delivered.

I find the Federal (Estate) 1 oz. 2.5 dram eq. load to be very pleasant to shoot in my lighter 16s. But not as pleasant as my handloads. Russ
