Can anyone provide a source for a current production 16 ga 870 barrel?
Specifically Wingmaster, light contour, 28" Remchoke.

Or am I gonna have to buy a whole gun?
Thanks
Pete

Take a look at E-Bay. I have seen many Remington barrels for sale. Just search Remington 870 and have fun.
Good hunting,
Ron

You can get a new 16 ga. barrel from Remington, but if you have an older Wingmaster the barrel most likely will not fit.

The 2006 Remington catalog only lists a slug barrel for the 16 gage 870. I would say that may be a sign that Remington is about to end its 16 experiment. There WAS a barrel list on gunbroker so go check it out. Has been listed for quite a while as it's too expensive IMO. You may also want to try Corson's Barrels but he's high too IMO.

I think that I would call Remington. Their site seems to be missing quite a bit. More than just 870 16ga. barrel selection.

Remington had new 16 ga. barrels last year. They were $197.00 with shipping. Call them.

UPDATE: Thanks to everybody who tried to help. Long story short, if you wanted one you're probably too late.
Had my local gun emporium contact 3 distributors. - Nada
No joy on any website (Gunsamerica, Gunbroker, Corson, etc)
My local FFL suggested calling Remington. So I did, they only have slug barrels left in 16.
BUT, their website links to Gunparts (Numrich) for hard to find items.
And sure 'nuf they had one - 28" light contour Wingmaster with Mod remchoke. Got it for $5 under retail. Ouch! Crying or Very sad
Also grabbed the last slug barrel (22" rifle sight, IC remchoke) that Midway had.

Based on this experience, it's clear that the 16 870s and 1100s won't be in next year's catalog.

BTW, the new barrel was initially a little tight on my 1956 Wingmaster. But a few minutes work on the forearm with sand paper wrapped around 1" pvc did the trick. Now, getting it to fit on my Sportsman 58 is gonna be a little trickier. Not worried about drilling the gas holes, machinist friend can handle that. But that forearm is pretty thin where it needs to be trimmed, not to mention being a mouth-watering piece of walnut.

Ah well, keeps me off the street. Smile

I see mention on "light contour" 16g wingmaster barrels. I have a newer 16g 870 w/rem chokes, purchased in early 2004, and the barrel's anything but light contour... more like a pig on a shovel. Did Remington lighten these barrels? I've since obtained and installed a 28 inch plain barrel, had it bored to .008, and couldn't be happier.
