SBS probably a wise choice to use the dart and map method of selecting a potential home here in the States.

About the Aussie Pub. Let me know where you plan to hang your shingle and if you have Victoria Bitter I'll assist in depleting your stock. Haven't had one since Sydney 1969 and remember them fondly.

sbs: you might want to be careful about the 'betting shop' in the back of the Outback bar. Your wife may not want to be forced to pick her state of residence based on which Federal Pen you end up 'visiting'. Wink

a betting shop here in Australia is a legal business it is called TAB and is similar to your OTB.
every town in Aus has oneand is part of a huge national setup betting on horses. trots ,dogs and every sporting event you can think of nationally and internationally.12 hours a day 7 days and are only shut for 2 days a year.it is bloody big business. My shop turns 5mill a year
you see we Aussies are a lot like the chinese we will bet on any thing, even two flys walking up the wall.

Most of your business ideas would fit in South Dakota. Farmers are alway needing metal work done, plenty of bikers (especially during sturgis), and legal gambling to a degree.

Pick yourself a state and set up your business.

Make friends with the local populus.

Become a citizen and VOTE !

Raise your children and G'kids and enjoy freedoms, the likes of which are only dreams to some folks. Be well, my friend and enjoy your journey....FWIW, if you can't find it in Texas, it can't be found.

Regards,
Charles

Great idea. If things are great, you celebrate with beer. When things suck, you commiserate with beer. If things are humdrum, you go have a beer to break the monotony. An aussie pub--beer-- super idea. Just as long as you don't bring over the quaint tradition of buying the bar a round, then slugging the guy next to you. I'm too damned old for that kind of fun. On second thought, once the festivities begin, I can do a bit of minesweeping and duck under a table. Swing away you buggers. Laughing

Rack another one up for the buckeye state!!! I have to agree with mdoerner. OHIO has no wacky restrictions and lots of hunting land. We have turkey, coyote, fox, monster whitetail deer, tons of small game, waterfowl. IF you do choose the good ole buckeye state, go to the southeast part of the state, maybee near Zanesville. THis is the most rural part of the state, but the only drawback is the lack of jobplaces. THats why id settle near zanesville cuz you should be able to find work there. Good luck on your move!!!
