There is a nice one-page article, "The Forgotten 16" by John M. Taylor in the Dec/Jan issue of Outdoor Life magazine. Somewhat disappointed that he didn't mention the Made-in-America Marlin Model 90.

I will have to check it out. Thanks for the heads up Barkley. As an aside, I did go to Greentop yesterday and ran through their assortment of sxs and shotguns. I didnt find a single 16. They had some nice 12 sxs and some 20's I looked at for my son.

Too bad, but it wasn't a wasted trip. Good to find out where it is so I can go back over when I am back up here.

Glad you enjoyed your visit. I try to stop by GreenTop whenever I am in the Richmond area just to browse the used gun rack. Never know when what one might find there, although I think their prices tend to be on the high side. The store is about 65 miles from home so I seldom make a special trip.

Depending on which way you go, DeGoffsis a small gunshop in Mechanicsville on Mechanicsville Turnpike off of I-295. They generally have a few used guns for sale.

Did your son's team win the basketball game?

I run across 16's almost every time I visit a shop. I saw a 16 model 12 yesterday for $169. Lots of great bargains out there.

I'd like to find a nice 16 Ithaca model 37 for that price. They don't show up very often around here. On-line purchases add another $30 for shipping plus a $45 transfer fee at my local gun shop. Another shop charges $25 but they are about 35 minutes away and it's not worth the time and trouble to drive down there to save $20.
