Remington is discontinuing the Express 16's, just keeping the
Wingmaster, for now.

I haven't shot a 16ga 870, so my uneducated opinion is that there would be no advantage to a 16ga gun on a 12ga frame, therefore the problem selling the product. I'm confident that if Remington did a scaled 16ga 870 or 1100, they'd sell like crazy. Especially nice would be a true 16ga Upland Special with the 23" barrel and English stock.

I bought the new 1100 on the 12 frame just to have an 1100 in 16ga Wink

I bought a Wingmaster 870 in 16 ga. when they were reintroduced 3 or 4 years ago. It was a heavy gun, but wood to metal fit, etc. was good. I shot some pheasants and mallards with it, and it worked ok but was a lot of gun to lug around in the very heavy bird cover I hunt. It had the Remchokes though and was a good gun for skeet; but I did like my Model 12's better; nothing carries and points like a Model 12, especially a 20 or 16....
