Spent some time chatting with Bill Taylor at the Cabela's Gun Library in Owatonna, MN today. Said he'd noticed a drop-off in sxs interest, especially in the $1500-3500 range, which he attributes (I think correctly) to a whole bunch of people having bought one of Galazan's RBL's and awaiting receipt. Said the specific gun for which he probably gets the most calls is the Citori 16. (Guy, you're having a significant influence on the gun-buying public!) He did not know whether Cabela's would be getting any from the upcoming run. However, with most of their lower-grade FAIR 16's already sold, sounds like it would be a smart move for them.

Reckon the higher ups have enough sense to recognize this opportunity to make a buck?

So, now is the time to sell Citori 16's?

After I get a pad installed on mine, look for it on Gunsamerica, Gunbroker and Auction Arms all at the same time (at a slightly cut rate, of course, for the pad). We'll see who bites hardest and then I shall also be a trader of the first rate, maker of major profit on lesser men who lack my level of buy/sell savvy. (insert evil laugh here)

Where do I pick up my card?

Larry...

I'm not too surprised at hearing your report. The 16 Citori is an excellent gun at a reasonable price. Mine are my "go to" guns for everything from pheasant to quail. Good shooters...fair pricing...and the best gauge ever invented by gunmakers! What's not to like?

Cabelas would be well advised to stock as many as they can lay their hands on because they will sell fast!

I really doubt my opinion has had much influence on the market. I have a lot of faith in American gun buyers. Most will do a good job of sizing up the different models and pick the bestest for the leastest over all. I am just fortunate to have a ggod sense of what is the best gun for the money, and a healthy respect for my wallet.

If I've had any influence at all, its because I talk about the practicality of the 16 ga in general. It is simply the best and most versitile gauge for most bird hunting situations in this country. My continual advocacy of practical lighter shot loads might have helped too. I wish I was wiser sooner. I was well along before I finally learned the truth about guns and gauges. Live and learn.
