i was given a garbage bag with 5) 500 ct. bags of wads of various gauges in it this past weekend. one bag of wads are 16ga. Rem style power piston type. they have Rem-Pet on the bottom and the three familiar oval holes for the cushion area. above the cushion ovals and below the shot cup are 4 horizontal holes. the shot cup holds 7/8 oz. (scale weight). any ideas? |

You will have great fun working with all these items.
Sounds like you have the W29932 which is the R16 wad.
I get lots of odd stuff and sometimes I use the old Lyman books
and sometime you have to carefully formulate a load.
Sure is fun, go slow, be careful, research the old data.
For the R16 and SP16 wads,
the R16 is W29932
and the SP16 is W29934
The R16 was for target and light field loads and the SP16 for heavier payloads up to 1 1/4 ounce.
The wad numbers should be on the box or bag.

FYI, both Remington wads share the same basic design and will produce the same pressures and velocities if all else in the loads are equal. The SP16 wad can be used for 1 ounce loads by placing a single .135" thick, 28 ga nitro card in the shot cup under the shot. Each filler wad will displace exaxctly 1/8 ounce of shot. Either wad can be used for loads lighter than 1 ounce by using the right number of nitro cards. |

OK, ...or Cheerios (if you can keep the mice from raiding your ammo locker). |

I found by leaving my "Cheerio" filler shotgun shells laying around the basement, the mice put the shot back in the bag and ate the Cheerios's.
Nice mice ? |
