Know what you mean about Colorado being a "fur" state. But there is hope, at least if you venture north of Denver.
Gunsport in Boulder has Fiocchi, B&P and my new favorite Clever Mirage. Cheaper than Fiocchi and after shooting a box the bores are clean, unlike Fiocchi. Gunsport also has some 16 ga. guns.
If you get up to Fort Collins Jax Outdoors has quite a bit of 16 ga. ammo. Best prices on Fiocchi I've seen, Also have Kent and some others. Don't really stock any 16 ga. guns though.
Also a place in downtown Loveland, can't remember the name though. |

Both Federal and Estate are made in the same factory in Anoka, MN. Are the hulls the same? Yes in some cases, no in others. Federal makes a bunch of different 12ga hulls (including paper). 16's . . . I've never shot any 16ga Estates, so I can't tell you for sure on those. I can tell you that the new Fed High Velocity Game Loads (7/8 oz) appear to be in the same hull as the old Fed High Power (1 1/8 oz loads), both purple high brass. However, the High Powers are 6 point crimp, the Game Loads 8. |

Interesting. The Fall Cabela's Shooting & Reloading catalog arrived today and the Fiocchi Golden Pheasant 16g 1 and 1/8 load is now listed as available ONLY in 5s (last catalog was only 6s) I think that is a better choice but what is available at the stores? |

rev,
The only 16 ga Golden Pheasants I've come across at Cabela's has been the 5's. They are suppose to be available in 4's this year but I have not seen anyone offer them yet. |

In the Denver area, Garts is being rebadged to Sports Authority Hc

What's up with that, anyway? Same thing here. Garts (or Gart Bros., as I still call them, being an old f*rt) used to be a wonderful company; the downtown Denver store (on Broadway, I think) was awesome! They opened up in Wichita a few years ago, and it was the typical big box mentality: try to do everything, therefore don't do any of it well. I was in the local "Sports Authority" recently and it looks even worse. Too bad.
