OK Guys, since you got me hooked on this stuff, has anyone had any experience with De Haan Shotguns? They look pretty nice for the price.
Thanks,
Gary

Garry, From what I've seen they are nice for the price. Very similar to the cz for obvious reasons. I was very close to getting one, but then my finacial prospects took a turn for the better, and I moved up a few price points.
Personaly I'd try to do a semi custom, as the gold turkey on the lever just dosen't do it for me.
BUT there are alot of used sweet little 16's on the market. Tuff for you given your current mailing address, but you may be better off waiting till you get home. Simsons, Sauers, Belgium stuff as well as American, Frnch, english, and if you can stomach it worlingworths.
It really is compulsive obsesive behavior.

Gary,
I have a DeHaan U2 O/U, 16 gauge. It has 28 inch barrels, fixed I.C and Mod chokes (I like fixed chokes), extractors (which I also like), and a single selective trigger. You may hear some negative things about the DeHaan, but I can only praise it.
I also recently won the bronze medal in the Sunshine State Shooting Games, skeet competition with it.
Mark DeHaan is a great guy to do buisness with.

It seems the quality has much improved since they first hit the market

I purchased a DeHaan 16 ga. U2 OU, single trigger full scroll. It is a lovely shotgun for the money, the tigger is good, wood has some figure in it plus the wood to metal fit is much better than I expected.
The only thing I would have added was choke tubes but that option is not available at this time.
The gun weighs every bit of 7 pounds, a tad heavy for a 16ga. but wieghed in as advertised.

I have a 16, 20 and 28 in the side lock SXS. They are excellent guns for the twice the money in todays market. The 16 is a bit heavier than my LC but it is lighter than my 16 ga Mdl 21 skeet. It has good balance, handles great in the field and is build strong enough that I don't mind shooting heavy pheasant loads late in the season.

I have one on order now, a SxS in 16 gauge. Mark DeHaan has been really great everytime I have contacted him. I hope it gets here as promised, by September at the latest.

I too have a DeHaan 16 gauge. They answer their phones and the CZ importer is impossible to reach. DeHaan has their own quality control, making them a much safer buy than other Huglus.

I don't live to far from Dehann. While I don't know Mark well I have had the pleasure of buying guns ithere in person.
When you walk in to the little business Mark is the guy with the workmans apron on, gun grease under his finger nails and a gin on his face. He won't spend too much time visiting (unless you want to talk bird hunting). He is too busy, hand inspecting every gun that goes out the door. I would guess about half the guns I have seen him prep get a personalized trigger touch up. It is not because they are that bad but because he wants them right and has a target shooters touch.

I am sure things slip through but I have spent enough time there to know the return policy is real and it bothers Mark to have a customer who is not pleased.
This would be the type of people I would want to do business with!

I have both, a DeHann in 20 ga and a CZ in 28, both of course are Huglu's. The CZ is case hardned and the DeHann is in nickle finish. Take your pick, but my next one will be from Mark.

My DeHann 20 has 30" tubes and is a great dove/sharptail gun it is 61/4 pounds. My 28 is 28" and handles about as well as any gun I own,it barely reaches 6 pounds. My 16 ga 28" is about the same as my winchester SXS at nearly 7 pounds. It handles well and is just the gun for heavy loads with late season birds. When the weather turns to sleet and snow (the kind the birds hold in) the DeHann is my go to gun. About that freeze up time here in the backyard of the Tetons and Yellowstone it works well for jumping ducks also.
