I have to make some room in the safe, and this one is among a few that are going to go. Early 1900s vintage Tobin "Tournament" grade shotgun. Stan Baker lengthened the forcing cones, opened the chokes to loose skeet and loose modified, and polished the bores. The barrels are 28" and have been rust blued. The gun was restocked by Randy Murray in English walnut. LOP is 14 1/2, DAC is 1 3/4 and DAH is 2 3/4. The checkering pattern is a copy of a higher grade LC Smith design. Buttplate is an original hard rubber ribbed design. The case colors are original, and mostly there, better than 70%, I'd say. Lever is way right of center.
The Tobin is a low pressure design, by my way of thinking, and I'll include your first flat of low pressure ammunition, free. 10 boxes of English Eley V.I.P. loads in your choice of 6s, 7s, or a mix of both. The gun includes a set of CSMC nickel plated snap caps, and the Leg-O-Mutton case, for 28" barrels, which I was told is original to the gun-I can't prove it either way. The Leg-O-Mutton has had a repair that has left several copper rivets exposed in the interior, which, combined with the age, probably limits it to easy day use, with the gun parts safely in a sleeve, like the one CSMC sells. I don't use it, but, it is cool.
I really like this gun, but, I inherited a bunch of guns from my Dad, that over filled the safe, and since I've been married, my trips are easier if I just grab a gun that can tolerate whatever is on sale at Fleet Farm, rather than thinking about and ordering low pressure loads. Price is $1600 with the case, $1500 without, seems like a shame to break them up after this long, however. Actual cost of shipping.
I don't think you could buy the wood, much less a restocking, for the asking price.
More pics provided if you PM me.

That's a nice looking gun. Someone should snap it up.
I imagine "someone" might be interested in knowing the actual weight and whether the stock has any cast. |

Er, yea, my bad. Weight is 6 lbs, 6 ozs. Cast is neutral. No through bolt in this gun however, so, bend away.
Best,

Geez, I forgot a lot of info-yes, it is an extractor gun. Sorry for all the brain farts.
Can anybody think of anything else I missed?

All that forgetfulness tells me you really, really don't want to part with this gun. |

Open to offers on this old gun. I need to sell a few, this is the only 16 gauge.
Thanks,
Ted |
