I was studing the precision reloading manuel for 16g and came accross something i dont understand. The following load-w209, 20g of 7625,tuwz2m16ga in a 1 ounce load produced the following differences in the Rem plastic hull and Winchester polyformed:
Rem 1230 v and 10400 pressure
Win 1150 v and 7200 pressure?
Is that correct |

Mostl likely. The Remington hull has thicker, more tapered walls and a smaller inside diameter. They are best used for loads of 1 ounce or less using only the R16 or the SP-16 Remington wads. They tend to hold up better to multiple reloading. |

The polyformed shell will be junk after a couple three loads-the Remington is a very durable hull. |

How do you guys get the remington case mouth to last more than 2 or 3 loading ? Mine all crack after a few loadings. |

For added case life I use a light load of 7/8th ounce with a moderate burn powder such as Unique at 1150 - 1200 fps.
I have gotten as many as 12 reloads from a single hull with this load.
By the way the Reminton case will crimp securely with one or even two splits in the case mouth so don't discard them prematurely. |

I'm using Unique, 7/8 oz, and an R16 and my Remington cases look terrible and a few have split down the side. My Federals, on the other hand, are up to 5-6 reloadings and look terrific, although I'm hesitant to load them more than 5 times.
But to stay on topic, isn't that the wad with the fingers on the bottom that is a really tight fit in the Remington hulls? If so, everybody seems to recommend staying away from that one unless using the larger hulls like Federal, Fiocchi, etc. |

BR, I think the referenced wad is the Baschieri & Pelagri wad also known as the "trap commander", one of their Z series wads. The one with the little fingers on the wad base bottom is the Gualaundi wad of the GL series. The Gualaundi wad has a smaller shot cup. However, both have too big an outside diameter for the Remington hull and will promote early hull wear, higher pressures, and loading difficulties. |
