I have decided to sell this to pay for some taxidermy bills. Was planning on keeping it, but priorities have changed.
This is a very solid 1954 vintage 37 in 16 gauge with the somewhat uncommon 26 inch bbl with an IC choke. This is a very solid and all orginal gun. No modifications, still has original butt plate, etc.
It has been used/carried a bit and shows a good amount of bluing wear, especially on the bottom of receiver where it would be carried, but no signs of abuse. Tough call, but I would gauge at NRA good overall. Bluing loss in typical carry points, but there are no dents/gouges in metal nor is there any pitting. There is some scattered light freckling, but nothing that you can feel with a finger nail or see in a reflection. Bore is bright and shiny too. Basically, with a relatively simple re-blue, this thing would look like new.
The wood is also solid, with no crack/splits or gouges. The fact that it is not split at the receiver is not insignificant as most I see from this period have cracks. No deep dents or gouges in the wood either. I think anything would steam out. The finish has a fair number of scattered marks and finish loss and overall it is good candidate for a stock refinish. Nothing major that would not sand or steam out easily IMHO.
I am just looking to recover my investment on this and want $300 plus actual shippoing for it. Willing to do a FTF in SE PA or thereabouts as well.
Shoot me a PM if interested and I can email pics, etc.
Thx,
Bob |
