How many reloads should I expect on Cheddite 2 1/2" hulls that are roll crimped.

On my first reload and these look kinda ragged. Some are split and/or rough( as if melted during the firing cycle). Still able to get OSC in, but it is a struggle. Is this normal?

What about the hull doctor? Will it help straighten these out?

What about the skiving tool? Will it do any good on these?

Thanks.

You do not want to skive the hull, that will make the material thinner.

Not sure that the hull doctor has any value here either. Once the hull starts to get ragged, there isn't much that will solve the problem

Very normal on many plastic roll crimped hulls
That is why I like pie crimping better.

If you have plenty of spare time (like I have) a cheap electric hair curling iron clamped in a vise will straighten out most slightly jagged hull mouths. Once they have split ,the roll crimps are pretty ugly and do not work for me. I like to use new
2 3/4" cheddite hulls, fold crimped for the first loading. Then any that split I trim to 2 1/2" and roll crimp. I found that the un skived trimmed hull roll crimps much better then the skived hulls. Roll crimped on the 2 1/2" hulls I usually get between 2 or 3 reloads .Sometimes none if they split on the first.
