Thought you could all use a laugh at my expense. I recently bought a nice Alex Martin (Scottish) 16ga sxs and wanted to see how it shot. Took it to the range, loaded her as usual, found my target, and pulled BOTH triggers! WoW! That is the first time in my life I have done that (honest) and was I glad that I was shooting light, 2 1/2" 16 ammo , rather than my 12 ga. boomers! I still don't know how both fingers got in there, but I am sure going to watch it for awhile........... That was not the way I wanted to test the gun. The only damage seems to have been to my ego and my knees! |

Are you sure you pulled both triggers? The gun didn't double on it's own? |

I would shoot it again--were you wearing gloves????And find out it doubled or you pulled 'em both at once |

older guns will do it. Rusted and worn sear ingagements and poor trigger jobs done by folks with no real skill or knowledge are the two main causes. Beware. Try snap caps. If the pulls seem overly light or mushy, look out. I had one do it to me after I thoroughly cleaned the gun. Seems the rust and congealed crud in the action was all that kept it from doubling. The sellor took it back without a scrap. He was very decent about it thankfully. |

Thanks for the possible reasons, other than inattention. I know that sxs, old and some new, may double on their own for the reasons you state. However, to test that theory, I shot it a number of times following the "boom", and it worked just fine. Next time I take it out I will be very careful to put only one finger in the guard at a time. |
