If your gun can shoot lead, it can shoot Bismuth too.

I use Bismuth shot in some low pressure reloads for older guns. The Bismuth ammunition (from the factory) is for modern guns only. FWIW.

Bismuth is considered a safe subsitute for lead. Here's a description from Ballistic Products website:

"What does bismuth offer you? If a shotgun is suitable for use with modern, nitro-based smokeless powders, you can use bismuth loads. Bismuth pellets allow you to use shotguns otherwise unsuitable for hard non-toxic pellets. These include older, fine double-barreled waterfowlers; small-bore shotguns and tightly choked barrels. These would otherwise have to be stashed in closets and safes. Before firing any modern loads through an older shotgun, it is advisable that you have your gun inspected and approved by a qualified gunsmith for use with modern smokeless powder shotshells."
