A few days ago we picked up a new pup and here is a shot of pup with his breeder when we picked him up. His name is Birch and he has been christening our floors, but he has been quick to learn No, Here, Kennel and how to run up and down the stairs from the deck to the backyard. Now, if he can just figure out the No with regards to relieving himself we will be all set. It doesn't matter how many pups I train, housebreaking never seems to happen soon enough.
Good Hunting,
Mike

I'll be in the same boat, soon enough-meet "Louise", or "Louie" for short:

Just lost my 13 year old buddy, "Gypsy" another very sweet English Setter. Here is a picture of her putting the brakes on a running rooster, just before I put the hammer down on him, in better days:

We have a month to go before we get Louie.
Best,
Ted |

Birch is a handsome boy. I would guess he's from October Setters? I'm partial to Ryman-type setters. Looking forward to pics of you and Birch making memories. |

Lying lengthways to the box is Willa, born May 5th. She's an orange Brittany. We'll take no dog from its box to bring home before its time, probably July.

What could be more fun than a box of puppies?
Ted, I'm glad to see you've got another dog. |

Thanks for the nice comments and Jschultz I am looking forward to hunting over him, hopefully this fall if he is ready for birds and the gun.
Ted, Congrats on your new pup - Gypsy sure was a good looking dog.
To those that guessed, yes Birch is from October Setters. The dam was Spice and the sire River.
Gil, right now we are taking care of a friends Brittany pup that is about 13 weeks and he and Birch are having a grand time.
Good Hunting,
Mike |

Thanks Bill,
He is from October Setters in Island Park, ID, owned by Lisa and Cliff Weisse. Lisa just co-wrote a book with Walt Lesser titled "The Real Ryman Setter". A good read by two folks who have both been instrumental in maintaining Ryman type setters.
Good Hunting,
Mike |
