Below (I hope) are a couple of photos from Friday's dove hunt.

Almost Shooting time and a nice sunrise:

and a Merkel Moment:

The place I hunt is at about 7550 feet elevation down in the San Luis Valley. Down to the high 30’s at night already so there were not a whole lot of birds around. However, the Merkel did its part when I did mine so we did O.K. Two birds short of a limit. The breasts are marinating wrapped in bacon as I write. A simple red wine reduction for a sauce, grilled veggies from the garden, organic potatoes from the farm I hunt and a bottle of Zin. Any other reports to share?

Yeah..............I'm reporting that you're making me hungry!!!!!!

Too hot to hunt here, I just can't hunt in 80 to 100 degree weather. Soon as I retire, I'm gone to cooler climes.

Paul I will be in the northern half of your great state on Saturday evening. Won't be hunting doves with Sage, Dusky and Sharptail grouse to be hunted.

What has the weather been doing around Steamboat the past week or so?

Paul - glad to see that Merkel coming through for you. My son got to hunt out of Holly this weekend and got his limit each day despite the flaky weather.

i hunted two days in north eastern mo. limited both days. twenty-four breasts de-boned and marinating in my favorite jerky flavoring. that's right i intend to process these as dove jerky. i'll post pictures and let you know how they turned out.
