I've used the Kent TM Pheasant load of 1 1/16 #5 shot for ducks with pretty good successs. I had hoped to get 2 or 3 boxes but cannot seem to find any place with it in stock. Does anyone have any leads? or a replacement that you've used with success. All my duck hunting is at fairly short range over decoys. Thanks. |

I saw that, but it is almost double what I paid last year (Cabelas or Brownells I think). Of course if Kent has stopped making the 16 ga load and they are the only ones who have them, I guess they can get whatever they want for them. I thought about the nice shot, but since I've had such good luck with the Kent TM, I had hoped to stay with that. |

Some on here derided me for doing it, but a local store had some 3.5" TMs with 2 oz of shot. I do not have a 3.5" 12 ga, but the store had them on closeout for $30/10 shots. I bought the ten boxes they had and dismantled the shells. so I got a bunch of hulls, powder, primer and wads, plus 200 oz of #5 TM shot for $1.50 per ounce. I gave the primed hulls and wads to a friend, sprinkled the powder on the flowerbed and bagged the shot- sufficient for 7+ 25 round boxes of 16 ga 1 1/16 oz loads suitable for pheasants. |

AM - I think the ones DERIDING you had some serious defects ! Sounds to me like a very great way to get what both of you needed at a bargain ! |

Seems like its a seasonal thing. Hopefully they continue to product it, I'd like to get some for the wood duck season here in MD myself. Also there is supposed to be a bismuth 16 gauge shell available this by this fall as well. |

Sharing this as a potential source since I have not used them:

Granted, it would be a "lifetime" supply for many... and quite the initial payment since they only sell 'em by the case.
I messaged Huntstuff on Facebook back in March and got this reply: "Price is $600 per case of 250 rounds. Only sold that way. Normally available anytime direct from the factory"
Happy hunting... for ammo and critters alike.

There seems to be something going on...Mack's Prairie Wings usually has TM in 16 gauge but not this year...Hevi Shot Classic Doubles, Hevi Shot and Federal Steel ares all they have in stock for non toxic 16 gauge. They do have TM in other gauges but not 16. I have had good success on waterfowl reloading lead recipes with NIce Shot. |

I emailed Kent early this summer and they replied that they still plan to make the 16 ga load. |
