This was a gift from my father in law. It is a great quail gun and my wife now likes to use it on clays

What great gift to receive ! , they great guns . I have one that is a dedicated Turkey gun choked Full and extra Full . But I have recently started using it for SC,s with the Mike Campbell spreader loads , works great for that also.

Hope you and your wife enjoy it as much as I do mine !

Nice! Mine is a '25 featherweight with 30 in tubes. Don't you just love the sound they make when you close it up?

LC Smiths are nice shooters; I have shot a field grade sweet 16 with 30in full chokes. I am a fan of the screw in chokes. It seems a lot of the early manufactured doubles were all FULL CHOKES for some reason?

I always check the chokes on any new "old" gun. You are correct that a lot of the older doubles were choked full. My 1907 LC "OO" is choked full and fuller...lol

Have read that full and full was standard unless otherwise specified.

I'm a heretic and have had my LC's opened up for upland and duck work and am very happy with their performance. Find them a tad heavy carrying in the field compared to other 16's, e.g. a Sterlingworth and a couple of hammer guns.

This is my 16 FW. I also have one just like it in 20. They are a lot of fun to handle for grouse.

remember , back then no shot cups . Just card/fiber wads and soft shot - fliers all over the place .

Nice guns. The 16 FWs are lively and fun to shoot. I have a FWS, post-war Marlin that I use for Sporting clyas. Fits me perfectly and breaks them hard with RSTs. I have begun experimenting with 20/28 reloads. Have not sent any for testing, just made up 10 I am about to send to Precison, but they are soft on the shoulder and smash clays.

Good shooting
