The pawn shop where I got this 11-48 has just acquired a collection of browning A5's with 2 of the nicest sweet sixteens I've seen and 5 light twenties that are mint.

The sportsman 48 that I passed on is a little nicer looking but the forend has been glued from top to bottom right down the center. The glue job looks to pretty good. Is 285buck a fair price? It's has a 26" mod barrel.

I'd say 175 would be closer for a gun with obvious history . I don't think there was an actual 26/mod - should be 28'' . If in fact it is 26 and you can see the choke ring and it's got the bead on the post , then I'd be thinking about some hard dickering !

Well I went back to the LPS this morning and walked out the door with the sportsman 48 for 200bucks. It has a 28" barrel in mod choke. I got it home and ran half box of federal 1oz #8 shot thru it and it cycles like a new one. The metal is better than the 11-48 but the wood is a little more beat up and forend has been glued but that's ok I like it. Pics to follow on Sunday. Thanks for all the comments and insight on these great American shotguns!
