I managed to pick up a couple pounds of Titewad today and at a reasonable price. While I know I can use it for my 12 ga (with a 7/8 oz load in the Federal hull with a fed 12S0 - all on hand here! ) I'm looking for a load I can fit into a 16ga hull - I'd prefer a lighter load in the 3/4-7/8 oz range. I have Cheddite and Estate hulls and DR16 wads on hand. (Also some old paper 16ga hulls....)
Can't get into the spreadsheets - can't remember my password.... |

Dave, I check both sets of spreadsheets ( LPG and oldhunters ) and did not find any Titewad loads for Fed or Ched hulls, just the ones that skeettx found from bpi . |

Fair enough and thanks, guys!
Like I noted, I can load my 12 ga 7/8 oz target loads with Titewad and with components that I have on hand already. It was nice just to be able to buy powder I can use in something. |

The problem with those BP loads is they are just a bit too slow for me. I'm looking for something around Mach 2 so I don't have to use any lead when I shoot.
Regards,

Dave, I'm basing the following on my experience in using 14-15 grains of Red Dot in an RGL hull for 3/4 ounce loads. Titewad is designed to be similar to RD in burning speed, and is commonly used for the same 12 ga target load applications.
I don't think you can get into trouble with Titewad for 3/4 or 7/8 ounce loads in a Cheddite type hull w/ a DR16 wad. You could probably safely use charges up to 17 grains, but I think 15-16 grains should produce velocities at or around 1200 FPS and pressures well under 11K psi. |
