Mike, are your Cutts and Poly Chokes factory installed or after market? If you had them installed by a gunsmith, do you know if the gunsmith did anything to the barrels to adjust POI?

Two are factory installed (1100s in 12 and 20) The others are add ons.
Many were bought already installed

BUT I had the 1100 in 28 and 410 installed and there was no adjustment in POA necessary

Mike

That's good to know. I had one guy tell me that POA/POI could be affected by several inches.

Who did your installs?

I don't own any guns with a Cutts or a Weaver , but I own several with Poly-Chokes and I don't believe modern choke tubes are an improvement in any way , shape , form or fashion . When I was a kid , Poly-Choke (or Weaver or Cutts) was the epitome of cool on a bird and small game hunter's tool of choice . My friends (and some here) poo-poo on them , but it's damn tough to beat the versatility and the nostalgia . Good luck in your search BarkeyVa , you'll have a wonderfully versatile shotgun that will cause memories to flow

And, you don't have to worry about losing the tubes or the wrench w/ a Poly Choke.

I do have two guns with adjustable chokes, a Mossberg 190 bolt action with C-lect (?) choke and a Remington Model 48 with a Poly-Choke.

Thanks! I did call him about the boxed set. It comes with a Full choke tube and 1/2 choke tube which I already have. He does install them, but he also says that he may need to "adjust" (bend?) the barrel to ensure the gun hits at POA.

I found a compensator w/ full choke tube on ebay for $26 shipped and I got a 1/2 choke (mod) on gunbroker for $31 shipped. Still looking for a 1/4" tube (IC). There was one on Gunbroker, but the OD over the threads was .760" instead of the standard .800".

Kirby said he can make Weaver choke tubes using steel instead of aluminum for $40.00 ea. I will probably have him install it, but I think I'll wait until after hunting season when he might have less of a back-log.

you can contact Chris Vendel aka crv firearms . He is a WHOF trap shooter and does these chokes . My 16ga spreader was more like a full . He took my tube , I thought , to open it and he made me 2 tubes of more open variety . He has the blue print and can make various gauges ... 40 bucks

My father always had Polychokes on his shot guns, never owned any high buck guns and always out shot the whole clan.

That is a "Pre-War" Ithaca 37. Latest it could be is a 1943. Whether or not the device on the end works, the presence of such cuts the value of that gun by a couple hundred.

If it had been a regular barrel, even if a full choke, it would have sold when it first hit gunbroker, which is months ago.

That gun actually is just a little south of me and I have no desire to go look at it !!!

However, we currently own 2 poly-choked 16ga Ithaca 37's. It is just particular ones have their intrinsic value ruined by them.

There is a 37T floating around with a poly on it. If it didn't have a poly-choke, it would sell in the $1200.00 range.

If any of you see a high quality 16ga Pre-War without a knob on the end, in Mod or ImpCyl, one of our compadres is looking for one. 16 gauge of course.
