I do not own a shotgun with a recoil pad and instead I shoot loads that have "manageable" felt recoil. What is acceptable to me may not be good for you. That said, my favorite bird gun is a 16 gauge side lock weighing 6 lbs. 2 oz.
A hunting buddy had a neck problem and felt recoil was very painful. He shoots s Parker 16 gauge on an O frame. Felt recoil is fierce when using heavy loads in his Parker. Our very own SP310 provided me with a few low recoil recipes and during a search I found some more. We loaded several recipes and spent a few days on the pattern board. My buddy is happy with the his low recoil, good patterning 16 gauge bird loads.
Those of you that have done the work to get low recoil and effective reloads now of what I speak. Anyone out there with a recoil issue? |
