Mere words could never begin to express the gratitude we all have in our brief participation of this man's legacy. It was once said true wealth is measured by the number of true friends one gains over the course of living. I am sure we can all agree Doug was beyond measure in this aspect.
This site has always been maintained in the truest form one could expect. I mourn his passing, even though I never had the pleasure of his acquaintance, but his spirit will carry on here, and with the many lives he has touched through the years.
It is my most sincere hope this site will carry on in the fashion in which it was initially conceived, and maintained by this true gentleman.
THANK YOU Doug. |

Most of us expect to keep kicking forever. Doug's life sounded to be well-lived, but much too brief. Changing places with Doug, I'd probably hope all you knuckleheads still living thought a little more about appreciating the gift of life, and those put in your path. Here's to Doug. |

Yes, here's to Doug.
I hope Doug and his family know just how much we appreciate the man and the civil community he imagined, initiated and inspires. |

"A man's greatest legacy is to be fondly remembered." Because I enjoy this site and received, as one of Doug's objectives in building it, an education about the finer points of gunning and the best upland gauge to tote in that pursuit, I just know he'd like to tell us how his gunning is faring in the coverts he's walking now. I hope to meet up with him one day, and step lively behind a dog with a nose full of scent and a wag that starts at his tail and goes all the way to his withers. Those are the thoughts I hope others have of me when I join that club.

Sad to hear. Though he's now in a place where everyone shoots 16's. |

Although I am not a regular poster here I've been a member for some time and lurk often. I've visited a lot of forums. This one is always gentlemanly and the advice is solid. Most forums are a reflection of the founders, their personalities and intent. Based on that, although I did not know Doug, my bet is that he was a gentleman and a scholar. May he Rest in Peace. RD |

I had the opportunity to speak with Doug's widow just before Christmas. I offered collective condolences from the 16 gauge group which she appreciated as she knew how much this group meant to Doug. We agreed to talk in January after she and his family have had time to get through the next few weeks, funeral, Celebration of Life, Holidays without Doug, etc.
I will post more information as I get it but at this point we will have to wait until mid January before we know how the family wants to proceed.
If anybody has any questions, please let me know.

I am truly sorry to hear of Doug's passing . I'm a recent member and fairly recent convert to the 16 , so I had no personal interaction with Doug , but am appreciative of what he created . He will be missed . Prayers and condolences to his family |
