What you see at the case mouth means nothing.
You cannot glean any information about pressure or velocity of a shotshell load by measuring or visually examining the hull.
If you are truly concerned, stop putting your face on the shotgun and pulling the trigger while using these loads. Send them to a Mr. Armbrust or Precision Reloading to be tested.

I'm aware of the hull visual inspection thing, just thought I missed something
Not really concerned just was looking for advice as you did advise, although never having the need for testing new loads with the abundance of data available and knowledge from you guys get it..
I'll leave the testing to all you heavy hitting guys out there, I'll stick around to pick up the crumbs😜😜😜😜 |

I guess my point was, there is a lot of bad information being given in general and 700-X and these loads in particular.
Basically there has been 3 pages of hand wringing over these loads when NONE is necessary.
From the looks of your post there is a lot of apprehension concerning them.
So just to set the record straight......700-X loads that are published by Hodgdon presently are good loads. The loads were originally printed by IMR back in May 2001, they were good loads then also.
700-X has not changed since the mid/early 1980's. |

Ok it took a while but I'm happy with the results
Earlier this month I made up the 7/8oz loads using the DR16 wads
And found them to be running about 1180 fps with 14 grains of 700x
I up'd the powder .5 grains and it produced velocities at 1230's fps.
Also it cycled my sweet sixteen!
Thank you all for your comments and knowledge
Well appriciated😎😎 |
