Not sure how I did duplicate posts. I'll delete the first one. |

Someone better grab that one at the 'buy now" before it's gone. Looks like a nice one! |

That really does loook like a good deal. Nick has taught me not to be in love with the latch forearm, but the 26" barrels more than offset that. Nice find for someone.

wasn't the buy now price initially $425-see its $450 now. Emailed him about the #8 picture of the barrels looking like maybe lite freckling but he says just the pic. Also asked if he could verify chokes and he said no-had borrowed out his gauge |

Shipping details also changed. Previously said "buyer pays actual shipping cost" |

26" barrels were typically choked IC/Mod, although the top barrel on a couple of my Model 90's with 26" barrels are closer to IMod. |

Any idea why Nick apparently likes the spring clip forearm better than the latch forearm? |

2 things come to mind, and maybe Nick will weigh in himself. First is weight. I think Nick told me ~4 oz for the deely latch. Also, a preference for early guns, the earlier the better and the latch came out maybe 51?

Out of curiosity I weighed the forearms on a few of my Model 90's. I think wood density accounts for some of the differences. Also, Marlin changed the shape of the forearm in 1954 that resulted in a lower weight.
Pre-WWII - 9.3 oz
D-serial no (1947) - 10.2 oz
F-serial no. (1949) - 10.8 oz
K-serial no. (1953) - 12.2 oz (lever forearm)
P-serial no. (1957) - 10.2 oz (DT-JC Higgins lever forearm)
P-serial no. (1957) - 10.5 oz (ST-lever forearm) |
