It looks like I am going to find myself in Destin this spring for a few days. I hear there is a Bass Pro, but wondering if there is any other sporting goods stores I should be on the look out for. Or any other can't miss entertainment/attractions/suggestions.

Thanks, John

If you have to time drive over to Apalachicola and load up on oysters, and just explore. Kind of the old gulf lifestyle

The last time we were in Destin the Bass Pro was still being planned. However I did see the club I frequented to shoot SC is still operational.

Great people to shoot with. The Wednesday morning crowd was a hoot to shoot with. When the kids were younger it was an annual trip and the Wednesday gang always greeted me like an old friend year after year. I vaguely remember they told me that I spoke with an accent Laughing
I learned one thing being from a northern climate they finish shooting before noon and I was happy for it.
If your into fighter jets a trip to the home of the U.S. Navy Blue Angels at NAS Pensacola is a must.

Go eat at Boss Oyster in Appalachicola; it's worth a lovely drive down the coast. Nick's seafood restaurant in Destin is good too. Reno

There's a couple in Ft. Walton, too. Worth the drive across the island, just for the view.

Jimmy's Pawn shop is a decent place.

I had a bad experience at Ranger Firearms and won't ever go back after giving them multiple chances to make it right.

I don't think Jimmy in Destin is still alive, but I hear his son runs the place. His boy also does charters to the deep water just off the coast. They're related to me but I don't remember how. Never met them but my father spoke well of them. Might be a neat place to look for used high end guns. There's a lot of moneyed folks there. Jimmy had his own bank and eventually sold it for a small fortune. Take your golf clubs with you. Even the municipal courses are fabulous. Reno
