If it was made after 1949 all Stevens/Savage guns should have a date code stamp somewhere (an oval with a number and a letter inside). It's usually on the barrel fllats, water table, etc. The number is the inspector's number, and the letters started with A=1949, B=1950, etc.
I've got several Stevens guns without stamps which should mean they're pre-1949. But I've also got a Savage 775a and a Fox Model B that should have date codes, and I can't find them anywhere. With Savage it's "Never say never" (or "Never say always").
Beyond that it's impossible to tell, unless it's a real late gun with a serial number.
