Just inherited a unopened 8lb container of 700X.
I noticed a load for RGL 1oz 13.5 grs 700X WAA16 wad 1120fps
Anyone tried or using this load? Keep it or trade it?

700X is primarily designed for 12 ga. 7/8 oz. to 1-1/8 oz. target loads. It has a long history of producing excellent results for this application. I use it exclusively for my 7/8 and 1 ounce trap loads with exceptional results.

700X might work for a 16 ga 1 oz. load in any of the Cheddite type or Federal hulls. They are all roomier than the RGL hull. It's a bit too fast for most 1 oz. or heavier 16 ga. loads in the smaller capacity RGL hull IMO. The fast burning speed builds pressures pretty quickly under 1 ounces of shot. I'd exercise caution if I were you.

However, I've found 14 grains under a 3/4 to 7/8 ounce load is a useful charge weight for extra light 16 ga loads in the RGL hull. You can use 28 ga. nitro card wads under the shot to fill up the WW16AA wad cup. The DR16 wad will work just as well for the same shot loads and won't require filler wads.

You can click on the photo and it will come up larger. You can also save it to your computer.

Hello
Sorry for dredging up an old topic, but sort of new to shotshell reloading and have a couple questions about the hulls listed on the spreadsheet.

"WW 16 Poly"...would that be the Winchester "Made is Australia" Super-X Cheddite made hulls?

"RP SP 16 Plastic"...would that be equal to the black Remington "Game Load"?

I'd love to start loading 16 ga. as soon as I find some 700X and get the wads, primers, etc. to get started.

Thanks
Mark
