Gentlemen,
Does anyone know much about this British make? A fellow in town is selling one for $1600 which I assume is a reasonable price for an English 16.

Unless that gun has major problems that I can't see, $1,600 for a hand-made sub-gauge British boxlock in good condition is a veritable steal. It should weigh about 6 LBS and handle beautifully. You might have to get some 2 1/2-inch RSTs to use it, but so what? If it is what it looks to be, it should be priced closer to $3,500. |

Lagopus says
"Information I have lists Little and Son as Henry Charles Little 14, Silver Street, Yeovil, Somerset. Listed as H.C.Little 1880 to 1897 then as H.C.Little & Son until 1940 It then appears that the business was bought out by A.R. & H.V.Jeffery Ltd. who then used that address for a while along with their other business in Plymouth, Devon." |

It's most likely a Webly & Scott made gun with the Little & Son name applied by the retailer. Still, if it's in good shape (w/no cracks in the wood or over-honed tubes) it should be a fine upland bird gun and for that price, a very good value. |

Yeovil, Somerset...not too far from where my family is from.

And assuming the tubes are >.25, which is the real concern with these older guns. |
