Thanks for the heads-up.

It's a two year old listing and the fella told me they went to Texas. Maybe you bought them and forgot you have them????javascript:emoticon('Laughing')

I bought some from a gentleman ~ 3 yrs ago (primed new hulls) on this forum. I will contact him and see if he still has some he is willing to sell. I never could get a confirmation what the primer was for sure so I sent a couple of loads out for testing just to be safe. If you find some hulls I would be glad to send you the results.

James

Hello Tom,

I got a good supply from another forum member on Friday. I won't be needing anymore.

Thanks,

Rudy

I'm just curious. Why do you want these. Have u tried to reload any. I have some, and struggled reloading them and couldn't see the benefit.

I know some people do not like activ hulls but I love them. I can usually get 8-10 reloadings out of them. They have a high capacity and rarely do they split. They are my go to hull for both 12 and 16 ga pheasant loads. Fortunately I now have a lifetime supply so I am in good shape.

eng-pointer,

I have a bunch of these hulls in 16ga and would like to use them. I would be interested in seeing your proven pheasant load recipe if you're willing to share.

Thanks, JMS

No problem. My hulls were new primed hulls. The best I could determine the primer was a CCI 209 but I could never verify that beyond a reasonable doubt which is one of the reasons I sent in the loads to Tom Armbrust. There are also multiple loads available on the spreadsheets.

Load 1

Activ 2 3/4 "
Primer CCI 209 (see above)
powder 18.0 gr unique
Wad claybuster WAA16
Shot 1 1/8 oz lead
8 pt fold crimp

Velocity 1147 w/ ev 18
PSI 8300 ev 1200

n=3

Load 2

Activ 2 3/4 "
Primer CCI 209 (see above)
powder 20.0 gr unique
Wad claybuster WAA16
Shot 1 1/8 oz lead
8 pt fold crimp

Velocity 1224 w/ ev 13
PSI 10066 ev 1600

n=3

If you have any questions let m know.

The bunch of Activ 16 gauge factory hulls that I bought when they closed down were primed with CCI 209s, according to the guy who worked at the WV plant who retrieved a couple hundred thousand from the dumpster and sold them online. Dunno why he would lie. I still have a couple hundred waiting to be loaded.

Great, the second load is just what I was looking for. Obviously you haven't had any issues with powder migration with the large volume hull and Winchester wad? I've never loaded with that particular wad, but just assumed it was tapered for the AA hull. I'll try some. Much appreciated eng-pointer.

Power migration is always a concern in straight wall hulls with Winchester wads and clones but unique is obviously a larger grain powder so hopefully that will prevent migration. I have been happy with the load so far. I am glad that helps. James

Dan,

CCI 209 was the general consensus but I would have liked to find it in the ACTIV literature somewhere. Thanks for your help. James
