THE REMINGTON 870 & M1100/M11-87 SHOTGUNS - A SHOP MANUAL is a great book.

Can be found at Brownells - stock number 924-500-870. ($29.95)

Step-by-step instructions for inspection, problem identification and, of course, how to fix these guns. Jerry covers the theory so you also know the why; tells you what tools are needed and makes sure you know where the pitfalls are. Filled with excellent photos, detailed, exploded view drawings and illustrated parts lists for discontinued models.

I have a 16 ga. Lewis model, and want to restore it...couple of issues with the action....can't get the top lever to release back to center, for one. I'm wondering if there are any resources.....I have the Firearms Dissasembly Part V book, but no mention of Ithaca SxS. I have read that Walt Snyder's book is wonderful, but doesn't have any schematic breakdowns. The stuff on Numerich's website doesn't have any of the older doubles, Flues, NID, etc.
any thoughts appreciated,
Terry

I have an image of the flats but not sure how to post it here. New to posting on this site. Is there an address where I can send it as a gmail attachment?

It was made in St. Etienne. I contacted a gun maker there and they said there were many individual, small gunmakers there as it was a center for gun manufacture and didn't know how to track the maker.

The French proof link is very helpful. I'll look it over to see if any of the markings match up. Let me know how to send you a picture.
Thanks

The image posted doesn't appear on the gun anywhere? Did I understand correctly?

I found this gun, and I'm not familiar with it.
Somebody know this?

Looks like a S&W L frame- probably chambered for 357.

I suggest they take a firearm's safety course anyway. Learning how to handle a weapon from someone else's thousand words or less on a website is not the greatest idea. Too much of a chance of misunderstanding and mistake. Take the time to learn the right way and practice. If you do have use your weapon you are in a volatile situation that's not the time to wonder if you are doing it right.
