These all look to meet the smell test as the same wad. I had not seen it mentioned before, but all three claim to be B&P made steel shot wads. I got mine from BPI when they had them on sale for $10.99 per 250.
Best price I can find places it at 50% more expensive than the VP-80, however, if you are willing to pay a premium (65%) more than the VP-80 apparently Precision Reloading are selling them pre-slit.
I notice PR has them offered as a 15/16 oz steel shot wad, however, I have never seen a 15/16 oz load. I'd love to hear if anyone has had success with 15/16 oz. Not sure it's worth the difference, but would like to have load data. |

Yup I have those same 15/16 loads and their remington bothers, however, never seen comparable load data.
The remmies are 1300 fps and the Feds are 1350.
I was trying to find something more in the 15/16 oz with 1400 to 1450 fps range. |

you know , this might be a place where an SP wad might have a use . I would check if I had some steel and see just how much shot fits in that wad . I just do not like those very thick/stiff wads for anything , and the remmies are stiff - if they hold the volumn . I'm gonna load some ITX 13 loads in my herters wads (thicker than most wads) and maybe some with an SP . I have an old Stevens side lever that gets the 1st crack at test loads , so I'm not hurting anything if I'm off a little . I got to believe what the OP is looking for should be able to fit a chedd case etc fine !! Byrdog - have you gone onto this route yet with your loads ? |

Davis,
My goal would be 1 load to use for larger game (say #4 - #2 shot size range for waterfowl and public land pheasant).
Ideally a 15/16 oz steel shot load moving at 1400 to 1450 fps.
I have data for 7/8 oz loads that meet these needs, but would feel more comfortable getting back around the 1 oz load weight.
I have a mountain of Cheddite hulls so yes, that hull is ideal.
The only 2 sources of load data I have on steel shot have been Lyman's & this posting I found on the web from BPI:
