I was real interested in a 16 ga exposed hammer gun made by Frank Kuhn Philadelphia PA. I was unable to find out much about the maker on short notice. I bid up to 650 or so but did not go higher do to lack of information. Does anyone have much information on this gun or a source of information on this maker.
Thanks, James |

James
Here is something and lots more stuff in the under link
Mike
Frank Kuhn is listed as a gunsmith in 1866 at 516 North Front Street in Philadelphia; at 502 Everett Place from 1876-1881; at 476 North Eighth Street from 1881 to 1897 and at 503 North 8th Street in 1900. He is listed as a gunsmith, a dealer in guns and pistols, and as a dealer in sporting goods. There are no specific records available on Kuhn's inventory, but it was customary in Philadelphia to deal not only in ones own products, but also in guns by other American and European gunsmiths. Guns with barrel proofs are of European origin.

Mike thanks for looking. I found that first bit of info. I would like to see a few in person or find someone who has one. I was only interested in this one because it was exposed hammers and a 16 ga. I have looked at a lot of guns over the years but don't recall ever seeing one from this maker/ dealer. Thanks again.

That was exactly my thought as well. Failure to buy remorse is hitting pretty hard. Oh well.

It looks like a Lindner gun. Almost identical to my Philadelphia T.L. Golcher 16 gauge hammer gun made by and marked by H.A. Lindner. We missed a great gun. |
