Well, I'm pretty sure I already know the answer to this but I'll ask just in case: are there any other nontox non-steel options in 16 gauge besides Rio Bismuth, Hevishot Classic Doubles, and Kent TM? Am I missing any? I'm hoping to do some quail hunting on public land in California this year with my Fox and it looks like its nontox only now. These are the only options I know of and even these seem to be a little hard to find. The smallest shot size they carry is #6 too, not my first choice for quail. Should I just get started learning how to reload? |

Thanks, I forgot to mention RST and Niceshot too. I've been checking and both have been out of stock for months. |

The three you mentioned above are your only source for loaded 16ga nontox ammo , I haven't seen any TM 16ga for some time now .
If you want to reload Precision Reloading has bulk #7 Bismuth and #7 1/2 Niceshot in stock and Niceshot Inc has bulk # 71/2 in stock. |

Nontox is only required on state owned land starting July 1 2015 Federal land lead is still ok this year.

Oh thanks for pointing that out, I didn't realize. I've never hunted in CA before but my wife wants to visit some family and friends in the Bay area and Sacramento so I thought this would be a good chance. I was thinking about taking my GWP to some state land near Sacramento for valley quail but maybe I'll see if there's any federal land in the area that looks good instead... |
