I picked up some 16ga herters to use and then reload for skeet.
Anyone able to share a recipe for those hulls with 7/8, or 1 oz load? I'm struggling to find some data for them (cheddites?) with light loads. Would like to avoid cards/spacers if possible.
Any recommendations?
Thanks! |

Straight hull --Federal-- better suited for 1 oz load---don't be afraid to use fillers or reduce shot charge |

Yep, Cheds, you can use any load data for Ched hulls in them. Note, they don't seem to hold up as well as other hulls. I use 24gram of shot in an SG16 over 15.5gr of Red Dot + med primer in all Ched styled hulls for Skeet/short range target loads. If I was being picky I'd say the crimp ends up a little dished compared to perfect OEM shells but it holds the shot in and the shell crushes clays when I do my part.
Have you joined the Yahoo group managed by oldhunter yet? Well worth the effort, plenty of recipes to pour over.

Zman,
The Herters hulls work great. Hodgdon has data under the Winchester Xpert hull, which is a Cheddite.

The 7/8 oz loads with International Clays, Win 209 primer and DR16 wad works great. American Select, Green Dot and some standard 12 gauge powders like Clays, Red Dot and 700x can work as well. Enjoy your new reloads!
Regards,
Jeff |

In those hulls I use the DR16 wad for 7/8 oz and the SG16 wad for 1 oz . 15.5gr Green Dot for 7/8oz and 19gr Unique for the 1 oz loads . Both of those load run between 1150-1200 fps
The International loads that JNW mentioned work quit also . |

The data for xpert hull on the hodgon site is supposed to be for 3 pcs Cheditte type hulls with the plastic base wad . I think they do list loads for the Winchester old 1 pcs compression formed hull also but they specify that as such .
Yes the herters hulls are Chedittes |

I believe Herters, Winchester Xperts, RST, Polywad, Ballistic Products multi hulls, Kent, Gamebore and B&P are all Cheddites. If I am mistaken or have missed some brands please enlighten me.
