Recipe : win poly (once fired). BP SG-16, 19gr Unique, win209, 1oz mixed 7.5, 8, 9.
When I start crimp the win poly it has difficulty getting a good start. Then the final crimps gets a fold on one of the 6. If I hold the crimp starter and guide it down level it seems to work better. Ive inspected it and see nothing visually wrong ??? |

You don't say what machine you are using. Are you using a starter with the right number of points?(6 vs . Does the starter spin freely and tilt some side to side by hand? |

Im sorry.... I am using a 16 ga MEC 600 jr.
Yes, it spins and moves side to side as normal. I have tried adjusting it multiple times. If I hold it still and level as it goes down I seem to get the best pre-crimp.
However... one or two always seem to be higher than the other four. They end up getting flattened or crushed in the final crimp. I can get a few good crimps then one will get messed up. I'm wondering if its just the crappy win poly hulls ?
I know they will still go "Bang" but id like to get it better... would a brass starter help? |

How many folds is the starter made to make. and is it the same as the folds on the case?
If tey are then look for a better style crimp starter to use on the win hulls. |

I would suggest screwing the crimp starter down 1/2 to 1 full turn.
For the metal crimp starter put a washer on top of the crimp starter.
Mike
P.S. Do you have the metal crimp starter or the injection molded black crimp starter?
P.S.S. See pages 9 & 10
