Speaking of Iver-Johnson Champions, I ran across a good 12 Ga. Champion, at a shop, but the price was more than I care to spend now.

And I found that Iver Johnson Champion I wanted a while back this afternoon. 16 Gauge, 30" barrel with full choke. 1920's vintage and in decent shape after I cleaned it up.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the Savage 219 & 220's, single barrel boxlock action; like a sxs, no exposed hammer. I have one but it's a 20ga, though I'm actively looking for one in 16ga. When I find one I would like to restock to POW and maybe choke tubes.
Today, I think shooting over a dog with a single shot gun would make one a real gentleman shooter.

Wow, I too read through the whole post. I started typing about the Savage 220, then I thought I had better read them all again to make sure nobody had mentioned the Savage. I went to get a cup of coffee, and poof, Rogue brings up the Savage Singles.
I have never actually held one. Dees anybody else here hunt with one? Any negatives to them?

Alas, have a couple of turkey shotguns, NEF and a TC 83 in 12 ga., but no 16. Both great turkey guns though. |

Well, it's not a 16 but, I like a Stevens 94 in 28ga and a yildiz 410! Now I will pick up a IJ Campion next chance I get based on a little IJ Hammer Forged 20 bore I just "refurbished". That little gun is very well built for a "cheap" double, if the Champion is the same I gotta have one in 16 ! |

You mean like this? I haven't hunted with it in a couple years but intend to bust a squirrel or two with it this season and yes, it is a 16.

I fully expect to see some of these single shot 16s at the Sweet 16 Shoot next spring. We'll give you a 3 second pause between targets on the report pairs so you can reload! Seriously, since we don't keep score you can shoot all singles.
Regards,
Jeff |

Come to think of it I have 2 Savage 219s, a 30-30 and a Hornet converted to K Hornet. Also a 220 12 ga. with a Savage Multi Choke built in to the barrel. Forgot about the 220, kind of a neat old shotgun. |

I shot a Revelation 16 single at squirrels from age 10 until last year, so 19 years that old girl served me well. It now resides in retirement in the gun safe. Whatever choke it was originally is gone and the end of the barrel is worn rather thin. It'll still slay a squirrel though. I'd hate to think how many round went through it in its life. It was my birthday present and was scored at a local pawn shop for $50. It was rough, and I did a halfway decent job of refinishing it as a teenager, but its dear to me. |
