which trim length should I use for rem black hulls. going to load 7/8 oz of shot. I like the shorter length to be able the trim off most of the cracked crimp, but the longer length will give me more room to get a better crimp?

The Remington hulls are already short, so trim to 2 1/2 if you must trim.

Do the factory shells eject cleanly from your A5? If so, why trim them.

If you have an older A5, then either length you asked about should work. You roll crimping or planning on fold crimping them? If the latter, I would leave as much plastic as you can. If roll crimping then it should matter less depending on the wad and powder charge used.

Not all factory Rem hulls are short , I trim all mine to 2 9/16" for use in my short chambered guns . I trim something off most of them to get to that length , some quite a bit . I like 2 9/16 " for a better fit . The longer ones I use for 2 3/4 " loadings for 1 & 1 1/8 th oz
