Does anyone have any 14 ga load data they would be willing to post? I would like to study it for possible load development. Thank you, stan |

Cartridge or muzzle loading? I have seen .69 cal. MLs described as 14gauge. |

Here is an idea.
Trying to find 14 ga data is going to be tough. Why not find the payload that you want in the 16 Gauge data. Using the correct wads, I assume it will be a card and fiber wad column. The 16 Gauge data will run higher pressures than than the 14 Gauge.
It might not be perfect but it is a good place to start.
With the help of a chronograph...... |

First, thank you your responses. I experiment with the magtech brass 16 ga hulls which have 14 ga internal dimensions. I study the 12ga and 16ga data to come up with loads with cards and wads that I test with the chronograph. It is a sort of pedantic/obessive side hobby of reloading that I pursue now and then. I have tried green dot and other powders by extrapolating between listed loads of 12ga and 16ga. I was hoping there could be some listed 14ga data out there for comarison sake. A more recent load that seems pretty good is: red dot 17.5 gr with 7/8 oz lead at 1200fps. I have not sent it in for pressure testing yet. But this load is the best I have come up with and I will send it in for testing in the future using one ounce lead. Old listings show red dot in 16ga with 16 gr and one ounce lead. Some 12ga data show 7/8 oz loads with red dot using 22 gr. I appreciate everyone's input. |
