Anyone out there have 24 gauge data for cheddite or rocky mountain 2.5 (65mm) shells?

And I also use Magtech brass hulls with 20 gauge wads Rolling Eyes

I do however have a shell holder for the 577 snider that I use for priming the hulls

I have mostly Cheddite hulls, couple hundred Fiocchi as well. I use them interchangeably with my 24ga loads.

I've been loading 24's since 2007. I have only used the 65 mm Fiocchi hull, which is virtually the same as the 65 mm Cheddite. My gun has 70 mm chambers (2 3/4 inch), but I have never seen 70 mm hulls in the USA. Here are my 24 gauge loads:

1) Fiocchi 65 mm hull
Fio 616 primer
17 gr. IMR 800-X
Ballistic Products SG24 wad
3/4 oz #7 1/2 magnum shot
6 pt. crimp. it was a tight fit.
1270 fps and 10,000 psi according to Ballistc Products (BPI) published data

2) Fiocchi 65 mm hull
Fio 616 primer
16.5 gr. SR-7625
Ballistic Products BW24 or SG24 wad
3/4 oz #9 magnum shot
roll crimp
1200 fps and ?? psi, load data published in Reloading for Shotguns by Fackler and MacPherson
The above is my preferred target load

3) Fiocchi 65 mm hull
Fio 616 primer
See powder charge and performance below
Ballistic Products (BPI) SG24 wad with one section of recoil cushion cut out
7/8 oz #8 or #7 magnum shot
6 pt. crimp.
18 gr. Hodgdon Longshot, Avg 1302 fps, ES 41 fps, SD 12 fps, not pressure tested
17 gr. Hodgdon Longshot, Avg 1243 fps, ES 30 fps, SD 13 fps, not pressure tested
16.5 gr. Hodgdon Longshot Avg 1222 fps, ES 39 fps, SD 12 fps, not pressure tested

I use the 16.5 grain load of Longshot with this 7/8 ouncer. That's my hunting load. I estimated the 18 grain load was less than 9000 psi. NOT TESTED!! I estimate the 16.5 grain load is around 8000 psi. I have a strong, modern gun, and even if these pressures were 50% higher, I would not be worried. I extrapolated these 7/8 ounce loads from 20 and 28 gauge loads using Longshot.

4) I have also used this 7/8 ounce load with 16.5 gr Longshot with the Spred-R device, using the over-powder seal end of a BPI SG24 or BW24, a half inch fiber filler wad and a .030" card under the shot, and roll crimped right over the Spred-R device. You can see the Spred-R and identify it as a spreader load. The data with my gun says it is choked full and improved modified, so I need spreaders for close hunting work.

I have also tried a 1 ounce load, but I cannot seem to find it in my logbook. It also used Longshot.

I have just purchased a 24 gauge sxs BLNE. I hope to use it for preserve quail and after seeing how it does in that maybe wild birds. 16 still remains my number 1, 95% of the time gauge.

Let me check, have empties somewhere in the basement. Don't reload them as I have a lifetime supply of factory ammo. Was in the right place at the right time. Will et you know on the empties.

I could not resist. The timing was bad, as I just brought a 16ga Purdey project gun, but it is only the second decent 24 gauge I have seen in four years in the US and I paused on the last one and lost. It was a Sauer and even nicer, though much pricier.

I wish I had been in Germany long enough to knoaw about them and had gotten a good one then. The prices in Europe on them are half what they are here and attempts to find a good importer for a purchase on Naturabuy failed.
