In my mind, it is particularly important for it to break down quickly in the water and marshes because of the known impact plastics can have on the aquatic food chain.
PHA would likely degrade much more slowly on dry land. Plastic trash is unsightly but not sure what the negative consequences of plastic wads are to raptors, upland birds and other animals. From what I have read, plastic bags and discarded food containers are particularly dangerous to land animals. |
