I agree. Its seems to have worked fine for almost 12 years. This sounds like a solution in search of a problem.

This forum is easily the most friendly and most cordial of any I have visited. I believe that is because the folks here have a common interest.

Diversity has a tendency to cause problems.

This is the 16 Gauge Society and I prefer it stay that way.

There are some great guys here . Myself , I have become a traditionalist in my later years . I hunt grouse and woodcock , I have four Setters and primarily shoot a Graded Fox 16 gauge . I have seen the light !
I also have Graded Foxes in 20 gauge and some very nice guns in 28 gauge . I have had health issues but am fine now . While sick , it really bothered me that if something happened , my wife would call the local Gun shop and settle for whatever just to get rid of the firearms , a damn shame .
In time now I will divest and liquidate .
My thoughts were that this group should get first dibs on some fine shotguns . I know that in my younger days I sure would have appreciated the chance to even find some of these guns .
I know we are the 16 gauge society but I'm sure we are not all purists and some have other interests . I have seen no adverse effects of others occasionally selling another gauge on this site . I understand not having a Dealer sell here . JMHO .

well, do we as members of this society have a say in this matter? I have more 16 ga guns than any other. But I do appreciate other gauges also, I have one foot in the grave, and the other one on a banana peel.
I have no family, I have some friends, but they are all long in the tooth, so none of you folks are going to get any of my guns when the time comes, because I can't advertise more than one gun at a time, or any 20, 28, .410, 12 bores?
Hmmm, is that what Doug REALLY wanted?

MaximumSmoke, you are the self proclaimed keeper of the "Rule Book", what do you say?
Ted, you are the tenth member of this society, I don't remember anyone being anointed with oil when they joined, but I have may missed it.

S-Long, I take it you are the grand Poo Pah now, gotta be pure as the driven snow, or is there a possible path to easing the rules to allow members to sell personal items?

If you really want to get technical on this, why does UncleDanFan get a pass to sell on this forum? He is a FFL dealer. Never heard anyone make a peep about him.

We have to very careful when we casually make decisions on what is or not is allowed.
Ted, you say you want no input from the society, why?
Things may never please every member, but that is life.

Dale

I think you wrongfully categorized UncleDaFan and maybe my post about limiting Dealers on this site was misleading . Mark is a contributing member and I have never considered him a ''Dealer'' so to speak . Yes he has sold guns but no more than the average Joe . He does not represent himself here on this board as a ''Dealer'' . I am sorry he is being targeted .

You got it Mike, I will shut my mouth, no reason for anything really being done to upset the powers that be.

Guys, just so you know, I only sell 16ga guns here from my personal collection. I did err in selling a gun for a friend here recently, but will refrain from doing so in the future. Thanks-

The 16 GA focus seems to me to be the entire point of a 16 GA Society. To deviate would be like starting a chess club that plays husker-du or having a Ford club that allows Volkswagons...
