Hodgdon has a bunch of data on both 1 oz and 1 1/8 oz using Winchester 572. I've got a couple of hundred Federal hulls I'd like to try it in but its nowhere to be found around where I live.

RSTs for my short-chambered doubles. I haven't yet decided what I'll feed the drilling, though it seems to like Herters' #8 for trap. I have picked up a good bunch of 2 3/4 inch 16 ga loads here and there, so we'll see. |

Thanks Savage. Must be on a store to store basis. I searched for it on their website and nothing showed up.

Final patterns today to get this light little 2-triggered OU ready for roosters.
Underbarrel: I oz 6's in Rem hull, SP-16 wad, 19 grs. Unique, W209
I did a final velocity check and today they were running about 1250 fps. Not sure why they were hotter today.
25 yards

Overbarrel: 1 oz 6's on Fed hull, Z16 wad, 20 gr. Universal Clays, F209A
These were again going 1275 fps.
38 yards

This last picture shows Ballistic Product's nickel 6's on the left, and Precision Reloading's nickel 6's on the right. I've been a little tough on Ballistic Products because their shot seems so much softer than Precision Reloading's nickel, but in these patterns and another set i shot today I see that Ballistic Product's nickel shot throws patterns that are at least as uniform and dense as Precision Reloading's. Glad to see that!

If you put that pattern on a rooster he won't be edible. Nice looking turkey patterns. I think you should enter some block shoots with that gun Wow! You should probably let those roosters get to 50 before dropping the hammer. |

What choke and what distance? Those patterns compare to what I get at 25 yards and modified choke with both my 16 gauge and 12 gauge. Most of my shooting is with Improved cylinder.
|
Oldhunter, the top pattern is at 25 yards from a .011 which is probably light-modified to modified in a 16 gauge.
The 2nd pattern was shot at 38 yards from a .026 which I'd call full in a 16 gauge. |

Ya, tell me about it! And I keep hearing I need more than 1 oz for pheasants.
If I keep the gun I'll certainly open up that under barrel. I have pointing dogs and I'm having "meat concerns." |

Those patterns will work fine Dave! You just have to practice what you do for turkeys and only shoot head shots! Even then you better let them get out a bit!. |

Byron, I'm not that good unfortunately. That lower barrel needs to get opened up a bit. |

I did! It's also super dense, maybe denser. Black Belt and it shot SC this morning and I described the load of 5's I tried as going from shredded birds to pulverized! 😀 |

Nope
I think I'm just going to get it opened up and be done with it. .05 & .015 would fit my hunting to a T, and I have other birdguns that are tighter-choked if i need more. |
