Hunted the Pup again solo. Got lucky & got him into a place with lots of birds. First three were pointed & shot. After that 5-10 sharpies at a time rising were too much for him so he ran wild busting birds & drunk on scent & excitement. He def. know he's a "bird dog" now. Must have saw close to a hundred sharpies in this one area. Most of them leaving the pup behind.
Some pics for grins.
Over all for a 6 mos. old pup doing most things right I couldn't be happier with him. |

Way to go Smoke! Jay has come through again for you, it isn't all luck you have put a lot of work and time into all your dogs. Oh and nice shooting! Looks like that new 1148 is turning out well for you.
That is a lot of sharpies has to be good for any dog especially a young pup just starting out. It does take birds to make a bird dog and you're in a pretty good place for that from the sounds of things. There is something special about watching the light bulb come on with a young dog. Hope you and Smoke keep having fun this year. |

Fabulous!
I can't think of anything better than watching a young dog successfully work wild birds. You are truly blessed. Nice shooting, too.

It's a very blue collar gun both in appearance & usage. I went through a period of 2-3 hunts w/o hitting anything with it. I suspect switching guns had something to do with that. Different feel, length, mount, balance etc. If I look at the target & forget about the gun it works well. |

Sounds exactly how any of my guns operate. Good looking pup and a great trip, Steve. Continue the theme! |

Ray-citori,
He wasn't eating such bit I think that look may be a "Chit eating grin!"
He looks pretty full of himself there.
That's a French Britt. He's supposed to mature to around 35 lbs as a male. They are slow growing / maturing but he does OK for a peon yet. |

He looks as if he could be Annie's litter mate.
