Anyone know where I might find a friction piece (ring) for my 16 ga. Remington Sportsman 48? Numrich is sold out.
Also, will a Rem. 11-48 friction piece fit on a Rem. 48? |

I was hoping no one would ask! It is bent and no longer fits correctly. I am not going to tell how it got that way. |

No difference between the 1148 and the Sportsman 48 except that the magazine tube is crimped to limit the number of rounds held in the Sportsman. |

I just received a 16 ga.-20 ga. Friction Piece from Jack First, Inc. that I was told would fit my Sportsman 48. However, the O.D is loose in the barrel ring and the I.D. does not slide over the magazine tube. Also, it is made of brass while the one in my gun is steel.
Do you think a gunsmith can open up the brass split ring so it will fit properly?
Jack First, Inc. is on Remington's Specialty Parts Dealers list. |

They should interchange between the 2 16ga models. Have you tried putting magnet to the brass one? I'm reasonably sure the friction pieces are bronze plated steel... at least the few I have are.
Several on GB right now, I typed in... 11-48 ring
FYI; for comparison to the 20ga rings they sell, the dims on the 16ga one I have in-hand are; 0.050"wall x 0.940id x 0.730"long
Haven't seen or spoke with Dave in years but he had an impressive stock of 48 & 58 parts. Worth sending an email the58sportsman@comcast.net
Best of luck with that. |

puta463,
Thanks for the information. My "old" friction piece is steel, and its dimensions are within one or two thousandths of yours. The "new" friction piece is brass (non-magnetic) and the dimensions are different--0.054"wall x 0.904" id x 0.758" long.
I checked Numrich again, and they had one in stock that I just ordered. It will be interesting to see what it looks like. |

You're welcome, I don't have a 20ga 48 (yet) but maybe that 0.904" indicates the 20ga mag tubes are a little different. |

Checked a number of suppliers of 11-48 parts and each one I've checked says the friction piece fits both 16 ga and 20 ga 11-48's and will fit the 48.
Obviously, the piece I bought from Jack First, Inc. does not. |
